Hello,

I'm using APCUPSD and I'm getting the following emails saying the battery needs changing. I've tried updating the battery install date too, but it's still giving me errors. The UPS is new, so I'm assuming that's not the issue. Does anyone have any tips I could try?

pve UPS pve battery needs changing NOW.

I had a similar but not the same story. I have an APC UPS backup 1250. I got it used and replaced the batteries myself with batteries sourced from Amazon.com I'm on my second set of these batteries mind you and they typically last about 2-3 years of continuous use. I have about 30-40% load on my APC and I've configured NUT server to monitor the codes/status and manage my homelab. When I replaced the batteries recently, the APC unit went into charge mode (which seems fairly obvious). The problem came up when it reached 100% it still said charging or batteries in need of charging. I decided to do a full powercycle of everything, APC and servers which resolved the issue. If you still have problems after all this and you have apc/nut software configured and working monitoring the APC; then, as-you-say, check the batter with a multimeter and maybe buy some more batteries. In my experiance the batteries are about $20USD each and you need two for my model hooked together in serial. Make sure they are wired together correctly or you could cause a fire or something.
