[SOLVED]

So turns out that my kid unplugged some cables and that's why it wasn't able to ping...

The setup of "leaving the IP and GW blank" for the bridge, and tying the bridge to eno2 is exactly the correct settings. I couldn't figure out how to delete this post, so at least I can edit it with the solution.

======================================================================================================================

Hello all. I've read several posts about my exact issue that I'm having, but I don't understand the solutions in any of the posts I read which is why I'm posting yet another question about gateways and routing in Proxmox.

So my setup (see attached picture) is I have my Proxmox server connected to a managed switch. The Proxmox server has 4 NICs on it, and I have two NICs connected to the managed switch. One is connected to a 192.168.3.0/24 network, and the other is 192.168.6.0/24.

eno1 ---- 192.168.3.0/24
eno2 ---- 192.168.6.0/24

The management network is the x.x.3.0/24 network.

What I would like to do is put a VM on the x.x.6.0/24 network but I cannot figure out how this is supposed to work.

I keep reading that "a host can only have one gateway" but this doesn't make sense to me, because each NIC should be able to have a different default gateway assigned to it and be able to reside on different physical networks, but of course when I try to create a bridge in Proxmox for eno2 and assign it's gateway to 192.168.6.1 (the GW for that subnet), it gives me the error saying that a gateway is already assigned.

I saw in another post that you are supposed to just leave the IP and GW fields blank for the bridge, and attach it to the NIC you want and that should work, but of course when I do this, the VM can't talk to anything. I set up a static IP inside the VM itself for the x.x.6.0 network, and it cannot ping the GW for the x.x.6.0 network.

So how exactly am I supposed to set up the networking so that I can have a VM reside on the 192.168.6.0/24 network?
