Hello,

We use Proxmox version 3.4-6 (standalone). I'm considering using Open Monitoring Distribution (OMD) for monitoring our various hardware/Operating Systems in our office. A blurb on OMD in case you haven't heard of it:

Open Monitoring Distribution (OMD) is a self-contained bundle that includes Nagios together with add-ons for gathering, monitoring, and graphing data. It comes bundled with Check_MK Multisite and by default the data from the check_mk_agent is served using xinetd.

Has anyone installed the check_mk_agent .deb file on their Proxmox Host? Is there a concern with using xinetd on my Proxmox Host for providing data to OMD?

Thank you.

i would set up a new KVM-Server to Install it.
Install LAMP the start install it. if something goes wrong you do not harm your Proxmox Installation.

It works. I have this running in production. It monitors my hosts quite well. I still install the agent on the guests.

Thanks very much for these replies. I will fire up a test Proxmox to see for myself but I'm very happy to see that 1nerdguy has had succes with installing this on his production proxmox server. I will also install the agent on each guest VM.

Can the Proxmox Admins comment on whether or not installing xinetd will cause issues for future Proxmox upgrades in the future?

Thank you.
