advice - is my Torrent HD having issues ?

I would like conformation, before I start to rip my Server apart to replace the hard drive,

this morning I was working on my VM103 (Torrent) and all of a sudden my desktop environment hanged and then my URL to my unraid, plex, and Torrent handed with a white screen. after a few reboots, and testing I think I have come to the conclusion that my external Hard for my torrent VM has had it. if it has then that is no bigger and I can replace it.

Sidenote: last night I loss all connections to my unraid VM, and my torrent server services, which I had to log into the Proxmox and we boot it all. but the only thing that was still working was my Proxmox Plex which still had access to the unraid shares.

I have looked that the SMART values and they look ok, as I see no error counts



but when I turn on my VM, I get this error message in the Console.

Looks that way, but it could also be a SATA controller or cable problem. Maybe run a smartctl -t long /dev/sda and wait for a long time (usually an hour or two) before running smartctl -a /dev/sda to see if the long internal test passed. If it does, then it's probably not the drive itself.
Maybe first try to read all data once and save it to another drive (since you don't have backups), because anything you do with the drive increases the risk that you won't be able to recover the data (without corruption).
Your problem is not specific to Proxmox so other Linux guides will apply and might be helpful in testing the drive (and maybe recovering some of the data).
