Adding external USB DVD drive

Server's disk drive ended up breaking entirely. There's an external USB DVD drive for use, but how can one add/use it on Proxmox for installing VMs from it? I doubt it's just like a USB stick...

Also, if replacing the internal SATA DVD drive, will Proxmox just recognize it automatically?

...been long time since I used DVD last time... normally it would be recognized as a /dev/srX device on host, no matter it was sata or usb-sata bridged, just pass that through qm set VMID -sataX /dev/srX would be OK, I suppose ...
