Adding additional IP's

I am experimenting with Proxmox in 2 VM (master and slave in cluster). This is just on a laptop with a lan (192.168.1.0/24). Can't seem to figure out how to add additional IP blocks/addresses to be used in a LXC container. if I just set the IP in the container, I get destination unreachable. The router allows both static and DHCP.
