Hi,
I need to add a new disk (hardware) to my existing local-lvm of type thin-pool
(Actually I don´t know if that is the best approach for adding a new disk -comments about it are welcome)

So I´m looking for a stright forward recipe to do such task.

My environment consist of proxmox 5.4-3
with local storage of type directory 100Gb
and the local-lvm of type thin-pool 790Gb

thanks in advance for any help/comments

Hi,

you should create new storage.
This you can do at the GUI.

I need to add a new disk (hardware) to my existing local-lvm of type thin-pool
This is not a good idea, because if one disk fails all data are gone.
So you have the speed of one disk but the risk of failure from two disks.

Thanks .

So, I should create a new LVM with this sole disk ( I have only one to add )
and make sure to back it up often. right..?

Yes, this is correct.
