Adaptec Max View Storage Manager - Controller not found

I have installed Proxmox 4.4.1 in a setup with an Adaptec 6405 controller. The controller is visible to Proxmox and functional.

Now I have also installed Adaptec Max View Storage Manager.

Installation has worked and I can login to the Storage Manager web interface.

But the controller is not found in the Storage Manager.

I suppose this maybe related to the driver that is used for the Controller.

Is it safe to install the Debian 8 driver from the Adaptec site?

Or should one not use another driver than the one that is shipped with Proxmox?

I have now installed Debian 8 driver from Adaptec website and after restarting the node, I can now see the Controller in Max View Storage Manager.

Additional info: I only made the v1.08 (archive) version of Adaptec max View Storage manager run with the proxmox server. For 2.x version i did not manage to make it run.
