Active-backup bonding - How and where to set arp IP options?

Love ProxMox, and have several hosts in production, with dozens of containers. We test everything on the bench before putting it into production. So our bench setup is the latest 1.8 version. We use OpenVZ containers exclusively...

Here's the issue...

We have set the two nics in our hosts to Bond0, Active-Backup, specifying eth0=primary, which works fine if one nic is lost. But we're having trouble setting the options for Active-Backup bonding. Specifically, any method we try to specify an arp_interval and arp_ip_target fails.

Has anyone had luck getting an arp IP target address setting to work? If so, I'm curious to know what files were modified and how.

I understand that 2.0 will be very different in this area, but it would be really great if there is an available setting to achieve the objective for nic failover based on a unreachable IP. We already have redundant firewalls, switches, and this is the weak link...

Thanks,

Peter
