Access denied when trying to boot from NAS hosted ISO

Hi all

I built my first 3 node Proxmox cluster today (9.1.6). In the main it went smoothly. Separately I have an Unraid NAS which has an SMB ISO share on it (for the life of me I couldn’t get NFS to play well). The ISO share is on the array, not cached.

In storage in Proxmox I’m able to add the share as expected with the user creds I created and tag it for ISOs. Via Proxmox I downloaded the latest OPNsense iso which I can see correctly in both the ISO storage in Proxmox and in the share in Unraid (which the correct share/template/iso/file.iso structure). When I create the VM I’m able to select the ISO and I’ve set the virtual DVD drive as the first boot option.

However, when the VM starts I get a failed to load boot0002 "uefi qemu dvd-rom qm00013" : access denied message (see screenshot). Thus the VM isn’t doing a lot right now.

What am I missing here? The SMB user has read/write on the share and all seems visible from Proxmox. What else could be causing access issues?

/yes Proxmox newbie
