[SOLVED] Why is my data LV almost full and does it matter?

I've just noticed that if I go to Host > Disks > LVM in my management console, it says that /dev/sda3 is almost full. Yet the datacenter summary screen reports lots of spare storage available (about 50% free).

Should I be worried or is this normal?

OK so reading the docs on LVM it says this about the "data" LV that in my case seems to be almost used up:

For Proxmox VE versions up to 4.1, the installer creates a standard logical volume called “data”, which is mounted at /var/lib/vz.

Starting from version 4.2, the logical volume “data” is a LVM-thin pool, used to store block based guest images, and /var/lib/vz is simply a directory on the root file system.

My PVE installation has been upgraded from 4.1 in the past, so I assume that's why it's NOT using LVM-thin (as you can see in the screenshot above).

Is this a clue to something? I recently converted all my VM disks from .raw to .qcow (and turned on discard) in order to reclaim unused space inside those disks. Could this have something to do with that?

Of course, it may not even matter. Does PVE simply use up as much space as it can for the data LV?
