zfs iscsi proxmox debian

I'm new to the whole zfs concept. We already have an old NetAPP Storage which is working fine and we are using it with iscsi. Due to ZFS benefits for replication and other stuffs, I was interested to setup zfs over iscsi with our Netapp. Is it possible ? because right now I don't have any idea...

I have a base Debian install, with an upgrade to proxmox and then an addition of zfs. Whilst not straight down the line, I think is a fairly "normal" set up. I want to mount block devices using iSCSI. Unfortunately it seems there is some incompatibility I'm hitting (I've done this 3 times...
