is anyone using i225-v Nic in their pve setup?

would love it. This is not a "production" machine. I was simply trying to setup a kvm workstation to run a Windows and MacOS vm at the same time. My Windows partition boots nicely (just with no network).

is anyone using i225-v Nic in their pve setup?

I'm using an Asus z490 prime a which has a single I225-V nic. Works fine in Windows and Manjaro/Fedora linux. On proxmox it is down on boot. I log in as root after install and the network is done. No error in dmesg or anywhere else. Doing a systemctl restart networking.service brings it...

brand new install -- networking not working on reboot

I didn't jot down what it said initially but I know it was successful. Trying install.sh again yields this: Error! DKMS tree already contains: igc-5.4.0-7642.46 You cannot add the same module/version combo more than once. Module: igc/5.4.0-7642.46 already built for kernel 5.4.65-1-pve/4 Module...

The version of the driver it built and installed was 0.0.1k? Is that right?

brand new install -- networking not working on reboot

Followed your instructions. No change on my end. My network is down on boot but I don't need to replug. if I just do a sudo systemctl restart networking.service it starts working. I have no tried it in a vm but at this point it doensn't look any different for me.

is anyone using i225-v Nic in their pve setup?

Me and one other guy is having a terrible time getting things to work. I can't imagine that *noone* is using this nic.

brand new install -- networking not working on reboot

Correct. This NIC is on many boards and to have something so completely broken is just bad. I've been trying for weeks to get this working and no one has been able to help me.

brand new install -- networking not working on reboot

Hmm. Not much help. Debian 10.5 doesn't support igc out the box.

brand new install -- networking not working on reboot

how did that work? I tried to install Debian 10.5 but it didn't have igc support out of the box. At least I couldn't pick it in the installer. Did you a newer kernel on there somehow? And are you using i225-v?

brand new install -- networking not working on reboot

we may be out of luck. pve will be on 5.4 kernel for quite some time and right now I don't know of a way to update the kernel to 5.8. I'm exploring other options.

brand new install -- networking not working on reboot

igc is the network driver used for I225-v. I'm looking right now at trying to compile up a new one.

brand new install -- networking not working on reboot

no, never solved. The last suggestion I got was that maybe I needed to compile a new version of igc

Basic PVE 6.2 setup - guest have no internet accress

ok. It's pretty basic. Machine has a single nic. Private server in my home. out of the box install. Had to add bridge_maxwait 10 to my /etc/network/interfaces file in order to get the network to work at boot. Using bridge of vmbr0 (the one the installer setup). no vlan tag model is E1000...

Anyone have any ideas on this? This seems so basic I have to believe it's something simple.
