'aacraid: Host adapter abort request' errors

Hi MadMakz, I may have to work on this server again (which is offline at the moment) what do you mean exactly by 'elevator=noop' as kernel option ? Are you tweaking the i/o scheduler on the host (proxmox) or on the guest (OMV) ? Thanks, Fab

'aacraid: Host adapter abort request' errors

Hi Squirell, Sorry for the long delay, I was not able to physically access this server anymore (here we got a pretty strict 'stay at home' order, again) arcconf logs and config : see below attached text files. there is a bunch of "AFM700_BU_FATAL_ERROR_ALERT" and "FSA_EM_EXPANDED_EVENT"...

'aacraid: Host adapter abort request' errors

The raid adapter is set up in HBA mode (pass through) so I think that should not be an issue with ZFS BTW errors are back, the firmware update did not fix anything. Any thoughts ?

'aacraid: Host adapter abort request' errors

Hi, I'm running Proxmox 6.3 on a supermicro server with an adaptec card and a ZFS RAIDZ1 array of disks. I get lots of errors and those messages don't stop popping up on the console: aacraid: Outstanding command on (0,1,0,0): aacraid: Host adapter abort request. I did some googling, that...

very disappointing ZFS... seems to pause when copying big files, very bad perfs.

Thank you so much for this very precise answer ! I checked each one of your thoughts: 1/ volblocksize=64k. looks ok. 2/ Aaaah the infamous CMR / SMR thing... I did not think about that. But those disks are Seagate ironwolf so they should be CMR, as far as I know. 4/ ARC size : c_max 48GB...

Hi, I'm trying to set up a proxmox node with a ZFS pool and I got very bad performances. I'm a bit new to zfs and I think I need some help ! Symptom: when I try to copy a few GB to the server, it starts at full speed, then pause for 5-10 seconds, then starts again for 1-2s, then pause again...

ZFS: proxmox as fileserver vs freenas

Hi Dominic, thanks for your answer do I need to set-up a guest VM for sharing ? I was thinking of sharing from the host, using NFS for sharing to the guests and samba for sharing to the rest of the network but maybe I'm wrong ? For now we use a totally separate hardware for storage and I'm...

ZFS: proxmox as fileserver vs freenas

Hi, I'm about to build a fileserver for a small vfx team. I was looking at zfs on freenas. but I'm also a happy proxmox user running various VMs (databases, rendering, dev...) what are the pro and cons of using proxmox as a zfs fileserver and a vm hypervisor versus having a freenas zfs...
