So turns out that my kid unplugged some cables and that's why it wasn't able to ping...
The setup of "leaving the IP and GW blank" for the bridge, and tying the bridge to eno2 is exactly the correct settings. I couldn't figure out how to delete this post, so at least I can edit it...
