Still an issue for me as well. Had to do `qm stop VMID` then tomcat's nifty bash version of showcmd. Is there a bug filed for this somewhere?

Having the same issue. Brand new machine, proxmox install, RAID 10 SSDs. Ubuntu 18.04 Desktop install successfully. Occurs with two brand new VM fresh installs. Confirming VMware compatible works.

Setting CPU to host definitely helped. Looks like the IOPS doubled. I tested on Ubuntu live and got within 5% of the results with hdparm as seen inside the VM. So in terms of max throughput it looks like a limitation of the hardware itself. Thanks for your help @wolfgang! fio --randrepeat=1...
