Thanks - but at the same time I made my post here, I contacted Hetzner support, who referred me to this page. It actually seems to be explaining it quite well. I hope this can help others as well.
It seems, with a IPv4 range, what I need (and use) is routed network, sorry for the...
It's quite frustrating - there are lots of posts like this, but no solutions anywhere.
Like many I have a range of IPv4 addresses that need to work so I have no choice but running in bridge mode, at least for IPv4, and that works fine.
It seems that IPv6 has to run in routed mode. I don't...
iface vmbr0.1 inet6 static
address xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx::144/64
gateway xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx::1 <<---- where do you get this from?
Normally, in my home lab, which of course use different IPv6 coonfig, I'd use
gateway fe80::1
But that's reported stale here....
I am trying to run Windows in a Docker container on a Proxmox VM, but getting the error Error response from daemon: error gathering device information while adding custom device "/dev/kvm": no such file or directory
Checking cpu-checker in the VM gives this error
$ sudo kvm-ok

I'm not trying to move the root filesystem.
I want to setup a new installation on a nvme drive, and import the existing zfs pool. The problem is, by doing that the old root files system on the zfs pool appears to cause some overlay problems as per the post I replied to. That is what I want to...
I have a pool where I had the root file system as part of it. I now want to move it on another drive and just have the data on the pool. I'd like to temporarily mount the old root somewhere so I can copy over some configuration details and scripts, is that possible?
Is it possible to remove...
I was looking for a way to zoom out on the list of graphcs on the summary page in order to be able to screenshot all 4 graphs (cpu, memory, network and disk-io) but the closest thing is this "Undo Zoom" button, that kinda suggest there should be a way to Zoom the graphs?
Essentially same situation here, but with 8.1, I notied zpool status saying
...
status: Some supported and requested features are not enabled on the pool.
The pool can still be used, but some features are unavailable.
action: Enable all features using 'zpool upgrade'. Once this is done...
Ditto here, trying to install 8.1-1 using Ventoy, latest version (1.0.96). I then tried 8.0-2, and that installed just fine.
At boot 8.1 throws an error about some folders not found. Not sure what that is about.
$ sha256sum proxmox-ve_8.1-1.iso...
Hi Fiona,
All good questions, but they're all interlinked, let me try to explain.
This setup is for my homelab. I use it for a couple of standard home-labbing things such as for example:
SMB fileshare for PC's in the household
Docker host running a number of apps, Emby, *arr, Transmission...
I have a Truenas VM under Proxmox with the SATA controller passed through to Truenas. Proxmox boots off an NVME drive, and Truenas then provides a ZFS pool. This is again shared with CIFS/SMB and the idea is to mount as necessary on VM/CT's. Due to the well known problems with shares in...
qm list [OPTIONS]
Virtual machine index (per node).
--full <boolean>
Determine the full status of active VMs.
Just curious: What is the correct way of running qm list with the --full option? Presumably, according to the manpage it should be qm list --full true
But...
I just tried creating an Almalinux 8 VM, and ran into exactly the same problem. I can add the hosts main IP address as gateway, but not the gateway of the assigned IP range. What is going on, is this a Proxmox problem or a Hetzner problem?
I have a Proxmox server with Hetzner, with a ip range 123.123.123.112/28 (.112-.127, 16 hosts, .112 = gateway, 127= broadcast)
The host has two bridges, vmbr0 with CIDR 123.123.123.112/28 and vmbr1 with CIDR 10.10.10.1/24.
On this server I have a number of virtual machines that all work fine...
I know this thread is a couple of years old, but I just came across it looking for something else. Maybe I misunderstand the question, but I backup vzdump (wma and tar) files directly from /var/lib/vz/dump, with borg, including compression and deduplication, at about 10GB/min, but of course...
