    The Dell R640 spec sheet lists Ubuntu 16.04 support so I figured debian and proxmox likely had support already as well, but not yet. Looks like I bought hardware that is a bit too new, my bad. Based on this bug report it looks like the driver for this raid controller went in to the 4.11...
