I tried the new kernel yesterday but for me it breaks USB-passthrough functionality. With Proxmox 6.4 and kernel 5.4 it's working, with kernel 5.11 after a while one VM stops working and this comes up in the syslog:
After this, that VM is not working anymore and new VMs with USB-passthrough...
Hahaha yes :D
Look into #3, there is a link to the MS download page, which also includes the CABs for 32bit OSes. Server 2008 is based on the Vista-kernel, 2008 R2 on Windows 7. So for 2008 R2 32bit you should give the CAB for x86 Windows 7 a try.
I prefer downloading this from Microsoft over downloading from someones Nextcloud ;)
The link to MS and also the guide how to install cab files has been posted in #3 already: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/unknown-device-in-win7-vm.49698/#post-246732
Update from Proxmox 5.4 to 6.0-beta1 did work in my test environment. A new installation does not because Xorg can't launch the graphics anymore. With Proxmox 5.4 the installer works, with 6.0 it does not.
Xorg:
"Screen 0 deleted because of no matching config section."
and

When I create/add storages via the GUI (for example via Disks | Directory) then this devices are mounted automatically after a restart - without an entry in /etc/fstab?
Where does Proxmox save this mounts and options? Is it possible to change mount options?
Your version of the guest agent was released in August of 2018. There is a newer version, released in February of 2019: https://fedorapeople.org/groups/virt/virtio-win/direct-downloads/archive-qemu-ga/qemu-ga-win-100.0.0.0-3.el7ev/
I stumbled upon this when I searched for the unknown device. But I couldn't find a working solution... I tried for a while and found this solution:
1.) Download the Integration Services from Microsoft Download Center...
Good question. As far as I remember I had problems without it a long long time ago and since then I always add it. I just removed it but no change.
And like I said: Passing through the whole card works, so VT-d seems to work. But passing through the virtual functions of the network card does...
Experienced the same. Luckily it was a test VM and I was able to restore to a snapshot. It would have taken hours to recreate one node of my cluster if this would have happened to a "real" server.
Hi
I am trying to use the PCIe-Passthrough function of Proxmox 5.
So I followed this article: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Pci_passthrough
I added this to my kernel boot parameters (/etc/default/grub):
intel_iommu=on pcie_acs_override=downstream
and this to my /etc/sysfs.conf...
I set "Block Unknown Multicast Address" in "IGMP Snooping Setting" on one of my three switches (the old 100Mbit Netgear one) to disable - and now it seems to work :)
I installed a test-cluster with three nodes and wanted to test the redundant ring for corosync. On the first node I executed
pvecm create testcluster -bindnet0_addr 172.26.1.1 -ring0_addr 172.26.1.1 -bindnet1_addr 172.28.1.1 -ring1_addr 172.28.1.1
On the second node I did this:
pvecm add...
It's missing the ZFS modules so it can't boot
Failed to load ZFS modules.
Manually load the modules and exit.

Hardware: Supermicro X11SSH-CTF mainboard with onboard LSI SAS3008 controller. I am trying to passthrough this controller to a linux VM, also I passthrough a networkcard (so called "virtual function" (SR-IOV) of the onboard Intel network card) and an additional...
In pfSense go to:
System | Advanced | Networking
and select
"Disable hardware checksum offload",
"Disable hardware TCP segmentation offload" and
"Disable hardware large receive offload"
Click "Save" and reboot pfSense.
Especially the first one causes problems in virtualized environments. I had...
