Hello,
Given a server like this:
CPU(s)
24 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5650 @ 2.67GHz (2 Sockets)
What would be a good CPU configuration for a virtual machine that has some CPU heavy tasks? I don't want to overload the host machine, but I'd like to give most resources to this VM.
Its a php...
Hello, big proxmox fan and ansible user here. I am trying to create new LXC containers in proxmox using ansible. I believe this is same issue as: https://github.com/ansible/ansible/issues/25113
I'd like to help fix it and maybe do a pull request for the ansible module.
I can't say with 100%...
Hello,
I am trying to move my last several VMs from ESXi, the linux ones were a cinch but Windows7 ones are giving me some trouble.
On ESXi, I use the "ghettoVCB" backup tool which under the hood, uses "vmkfstools -i" to clone the VMs and make a "thin" .vmdk backup (which is a .vmdk text...
Looking for some feedback here, I recently noticed some of my backups were larger than I expected given the amount of actual data residing in the guest VMs. But I realized this is because some of those guest VMs had *previously* stored a lot of data and though I had deleted it it wasn't...
Hello,
I have a linux-friendly laptop (Zareason) that came loaded with Ubuntu.
I reformatted it with Debian Jessie with Gnome, and followed the instructions for installing proxmox on Jessie. All installed fine, but after reboot Xorg will not start. (Xorg worked fine with both Ubuntu and...
Hello,
I have a cluster running 4.4 no subscription. Last night my NFS backup failed (all nodes backing up at once, on same network as cluster communications). Now from each node's web UI, all other nodes are showing red, and I cannot edit the backup job because /etc/pve/ permission denied...
Hello,
I have several nodes, all have 600gb hard drives. After installation from the ISO, my local storage on each node is 94.37 GB according to the proxmox webUI.
df -h command shows this for the "/" disk .
/dev/dm-0 95G 21G 70G 23% /
I'm...
Hey folks,
I have a proxmox cluster and one node is having a problem, probably hardware related.
I can't see which VMs are down as a result, only the numbers, so I don't know if this is an urgent problem for me. Is there a way, from the nodes that are alive, to obtain the friendly VM names...
I have an ansible playbook that clones a debian template, sets some kernel arguments via qm command, boots the VM, and then is supposed to remove the kernel arguments, so they would only be used/seen on first boot. I based my method off of this excellent guide...
LXC containers have obvious benefits - I really especially like that you can supply IP, hostname, root fs, and even SSH key right off the bat, then have basically bare metal performance.
But I've now run into at least 2 applications which either need modification or something else to get...
Is anyone on here provisioning and configuring VMs on Proxmox, in a programmatic way?
I'm hoping to get something going with vagrant, ansible, etc, and/or perhaps the Proxmox API. I have several proxmox nodes in a cluster.
Specifying a KVM template, hardware specifics (disk size, VLAN id etc)...
Hello,
I did a sparse rsync copy of a .raw file from an older proxmox cluster to a local new proxmox 4.2 system.
I am stumped as to how I can create a new VM with this .raw file. It seems the new system is using lvm-local storage when I create a new VM and I cannot figure out how to copy the...
Hello,
I take nightly backup snapshots of my ESXi linux VMs using a script "ghettoVCB" and the backups are on NFS.
I would like to import the VMDK disks into Proxmox containers. I would like them to be "thin" if this is possible.
Can anyone recommend the steps on the best way to do this...
Hi folks,
Any recommendations for a shared storage unit for a 5 node Proxmox cluster? Mostly Linux machines and pretty low traffic - mostly doing email for small groups and some VoIP. No "big data".
Is NFS fast enough? These are blade servers in a dell m1000e enclosure.
