[SOLVED] LXC backups to PBS - strange behavior

Hi Neobin, You were right! This is the cause of the issue - large (and long...) PBS backups. The 'problem' here was /var/log/lastlog. I excluded this file from the backups and the issue is resolved. Thanks. I haven't encountered something like this before.

Removing ifupdown during Proxmox Backup Server Install Bricks AWS EC2 VM

I also followed this reddit post, but it didn't work for me. I found that if I used apt-mark to prevent ifupdown from being removed AND ifupdown2 from being installed, then I didn't lose connectivity after the install or reboot. I ran the following 2 commands before installing PBS... apt-mark...

[SOLVED] LXC backups to PBS - strange behavior

Hmmm, I don't think so, backups to 'non PBS' destinations work correctly. It is only the backups to PBS that show this issue.

[SOLVED] LXC backups to PBS - strange behavior

Hi, I hope someone can help as I have been struggling with the following issue regard backups of LXC instances from PVE 7 to a Proxmox Backup Server. Up to now, we have been doing our backups to a NAS via a NFS share and this is working well. We decided to try out Proxmox Backup Server as an...

    change limits for unprivileged container

Hi Fabian, I am using MongoDB with a 14.04 LXC CT. This comes with a start/stop script that it installed. I tried using this script. If the CT is a privileged CT, then all works as expected. With unprivileged, the process always fails to start using these scripts. I even commented out the...

    change limits for unprivileged container

After more checks I see that if I use pct start nnn and then pct enter nnn then ulimit -a shows open files (-n) 65536 However if I then start my process, and then check ulimit it shows that I am restricted to 4096 open files so how do I determine the ulimit setting for my process? What...

    change limits for unprivileged container

I previously used pct start nnn to start my LXC containers to get higher ulimit values for my processes. Since I have installed the latest updates, this does not work any more. What is the 'new/correct' way to set the ulimit values now? Can anyone please advise me on this as I am running into...

    Keepalived - Possible with OpenVZ

Hi, What I did was to setup two small KVM instances with Keepalived running in them with HAProxy and then pointed these to my backend web servers running in OpenVZ containers. Works like a charm.

Unprivileged LXC and bind mount woes

After messing around with this since this post, I have found the cause of the problem and a work around. I was always creating the user with the required uid:gid BEFORE adding the bind mount. If I do this, then the bind mount works correctly, but the local user has 'wrong' permissions as I...

Unprivileged LXC and bind mount woes

Hi, I am running Proxmox 4 with all updates. I am battling to get unprivileged containers and bind mounts working as per these instructions: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Unprivileged_LXC_containers I created a new unprivileged Ubuntu 14.0.4 container from the available template and created a...

Convert OpenVZ to LXC (unprivileged) Bind Mount Issue

I have converted several existing Ubuntu 14.04 OpenVZ containers to LXC (privileged) including bind mounts without any issues. I am now trying to convert these privileged LXC containers to unprivileged ones, including their bind mounts and have run into an issue in that the mapping for the bind...

    Keepalived - Possible with OpenVZ

Hi, Is it possible yo use keepalived for HA with OpenVZ containers or will it only work with KVM? I see that I cannot set net.ipv4.ip_nonlocal_bind=1 within a container. I haven't been able to find much info on the net which makes me think that it might be a problem I have been testing with...
