I have moved VMs to and from VMware/Hyper-V and Proxmox (kvm) without issue using just qemu-img to convert the disk images. First bootup is usually slow because the vm finds all new hardware and you may have to reactivate windows, but we haven't had any real problems doing it.
I may have located the problem.
It seems to be only traffic through the Sophos firewall.
If i connect directly to the management LAN its fine
I thought i'd tested that earlier when i was directly connected to that lan for initial setup, but now that I'm retesting, it seems ok directly...
I'm having a weird issue where any connection to the proxmox nodes is disconnected every couple of minutes.
If i for example, select a node, open up the console via the web gui, after a couple of minutes, it will disconnect and I will have to close the pop up window and reopen it.

The storage nodes are 2x SSD for journals with 8x 7200rpm SATA for the actual OSD data. 1 SSD per 4 HDD's. The host OS is on an 11th drive.
The compute nodes have 1 SSD for OS, but it is small.
