    VM Start Error

OK, changing it to Write Through fixed it. Is there a specific reason this is needed? Thanks, Mike

    VM Start Error

Yes, we're going to setup external backups. I'll try a different cache and update here shortly. Thanks, Mike

    VM Start Error

Hello, I'm getting the following error after creating a VM (KVM) and trying to start it - I've setup using ZFS RAID 0; kvm: -drive file=/var/lib/vz/images/100/vm-100-disk-1.qcow2,if=none,id=drive-ide0,format=qcow2,aio=native,cache=none,detect-zeroes=on: file system may not support O_DIRECT...

    KVM Templates

Hello, How can I import already created KVM templates? We purchased a stacklet subscription to download their pre-created KVM/Qemu templates but I can't find any information about adding these to Proxmox. Thanks in advance!

Hi there. I was wondering if you would be willing to help setup a OmniOS/Napp-IT based SAN for us. We'd be willing to pay by the hour if the rate is right.

    Storage Options

Can anyone provide a link or some info on a step-by-step guide on setting up Napp-IT for ZFS and iSCSI and then connecting to it? I've installed OmniOS and setup Napp-IT and messed with it a bit but not overly confident I've set it up right. Any information highly appreciated!

    Network Config

I'm a bit stuck here. We have 6 Hypervisors and 2 SANs. Each HV has 4 ports and the SANs have around 6 ports. I'm trying to work out how I can get all of these to bond so we have the cluster bond and the storage bond. I've created 2 VLANs on our switch (Dell PC 6248), one for the cluster and...

When you say 2 Samsung for the L2Arch, do you mean 2 in a RAID1 under ZFS?

    Storage Options

I've just checked our stock levels and we have 4x 120GB Crucial SSDs as well. So this is what we have in stock right now; 4x 120GB Crucial SSDs 24x 250GB Samsung EVO SSDs (Pulled from previous project which are planned to be used as RAID 1 arrays for the hypervisor (x6) OS's) 19x 2TB Western...

    Storage Options

All our SSDs are Samsung EVO 840 Pro's @ 256GB each. So you're saying we should put 5 SSD's, 10x 2TB and 1x Hot spare? We don't have rear facing SSD slots unfortunately, all bays are front facing. Our Spec is pretty much the same as yours except the larger chassis.

    Storage Options

Yeah, I'm in 2 minds whether to do RAIDz2 or RAID10 (thru ZFS), I read that both are equal. Except RAID10 takes more space than RAIDz2. I was wondering if this would be suitable at all? 16 Bay Chassis --- OS - 2x SSD in RAID1 (HW or no HW?) Storage - 13x 2TB Western Digital RED (ZFS RAID10 or...

I've been doing a little research on ZFS with regards to RAID usage. I've read that a hardware RAID controller must be set to JBOD, is this correct? As for the ZFS RAID, my own conclusion is to use RAIDz2. The array would be 10 or 14x 2TB SATA3 hard drives, what would you suggest?

    Getting Started?

I'm a little confused to how Proxmox works with a central control panel as I only see 1 set of installation instructions. I'm guessing all the servers in the cluster share the same installation procedure? When purchasing a subscription it mentions sockets but we wouldn't want to be paying...

    Getting Started?

Hello, I'm a little confused with getting started on Proxmox, I've set it up on a VM for testing purposes until our main CP server becomes available and found the installation instructions in the wiki with ease, the installation was a breeze! But what next? I can't seem to find any...

I think it's just because I've never used it before and it's considerably different to what I have used previously. It was only a quick look on a system I couldn't really do much with.

I also saw that NexentaStor is recommended under the Solaris based stores. Is there any benefits between choosing either OmniOS or NexentaStor? I tried a quick install of OmniOS and Napp-It earlier today but the Napp-It interface is quite large and would take a while to get used to. Is there...

    Network Config

Are there any network diagrams available that I can review? Any specific network instructions, as you say pair 2 for the cluster and 2 for storage? With cluster, do you mean the internal networking or the VM internet access?

    Storage Options

Lots of great information there, thank you very much! Going to load OmniOS and napp-it onto a KVM based VM today to test it out, never heard of or used it before and we have a week to decide on the SAN platform so it'll give me plenty of time to figure it out I imagine. Does anyone else have...
