Installed the updates and running a full backup right now. It's already onto CT 3 of 15 where it failed at the end of CT 1 previously. So looks like it resolved it for me!
Dietmar, can you look at http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=718582 and the fix around the lvm remove hang. The changes in the udev rules for lvm2 (2.02.98-5) may help resolve this issue?
I had the same issue again over the weekend. It appears the lvm remove command fails and the main vg gets suspended. I was able to issue "dmsetup resume <vg>" and the blocked processes continued.

I had the same issue over the weekend. Our vms were all unresponsive. After logging into the host, It was unresponsive. ps was hanging so I couldnt get a full list of processes but I did manage to get the following:
top - 10:44:37 up 35 days, 21:01, 5 users, load average: 688.71...
