This last piece confuses me too. Did you ever figure this out? Wouldn’t it seem you’d want to start the host mapping at 1284000000 too and not root 0?

I just saw another post suggest using 0.49 also, still no luck trying that either. Also converted my vm disk to qcow2 from raw to see if that made a difference, It did not. Also tried using qemu32 instead of kvm32, it didn't work either. I quess xp can't use VirtIO.
