@Neobin I couldn't wait until morning and had to get out of bed to try it. I am seeing a HUGE increase in read speeds. Write speeds have also seen an increase but not as dramatic, I assume that is to be expected. Thank you very much for your help!
Thank you for this info @Neobin I will resolve that issue tomorrow and re-run some tests. Fingers crossed this is the misconfiguration causing the slowness.
Correct, I am not bonding the 10G as I currently only have a 5 port 10G switch. The 1G is for the frontend. The DC600M drives have already automatically set to write back, the OS drive (900GB SAS) and another unused 900GB SAS drive are write-though and the queue us set to none as you expected...
Hello everyone. I am admittedly new to ceph so please be gentle. I have a 3 node cluster (3x Lenovo X3550 m5), each with the following spec
2x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2680 v4 @ 2.40GHz
128GB ECC DDR4 2133
4x 1.8TB Kingston DC600M sata SSD drives (ceph)
1x 900GB SAS Toshiba HDD (OS)
1x dual...
Is it possible to figure out how much disk space is actually being used by a given namespace? It would be awesome for this to be viewable in the web gui but I would also settle for knowing a way to find out via cli as well.
Thanks Dominic. I have added my suggestion and reasoning to the bugzilla page. I know it isn't as simple as just adding a comment or renaming the file but it shouldn't be all that hard to implement if they really wanted to
First off, I must say a big thanks for this new backup system. Having large amounts of data the old system was cumbersome and slow to backup for my needs. PBS fits the bill just great, the speed after initial backup creation is just awesome, and the backup sync to remote locations is a huge...
Unfortunately this is not the case (in my situation). Directly from /etc/pve/storage.cfg
dir: node2_sata_raid
path /disks/sata_raid

Hi all,
I am trying to do a migration of a few virtual disks however the --targetstorage option is being ignored and the original storage path is being used (albeit on the destination node). Anyone have any idea why this might be?
root@node0:~# grep vm-119-disk /etc/pve/qemu-server/119.conf...
I haven't yet determined if this has fixed everything in my cluster, but it has fixed my inability to start a VM and also my inability to access the web interface on node0.

Hi all,
I'm having quite an emergency here as no VMs will start in a production environment. I joined a new node to a cluster, after doing so the web interface would not start. I shut down all VMs on the original node and rebooted it and now no VMs will start at all. The error when doing...
A day or so beforehand I'll set the DNS TTL to the lowest option (IIRC it is 15 minutes). Once I start the xfer I will change the the address the DNS entry itself.
To reply to my own question, I believe I have come up with a good option. I have used the patches created by aufan (and explained at http://ayufan.eu/projects/proxmox-ve-differential-backups/) so I can setup differential backups via the management interface. I'll xfer the full backup or send a...
How does this create any less down time? The time to move the external USB drive will be the same as it is to move the whole server to the new location.
If you mean, move the disk and then once the disk arrives at the new location shut down the local VM and start it at the remote location...
Hi all,
I am looking for a few options/recommendations for the following scenario in case I have missed any options myself. I am moving about 5 hours away from where I am now. It would be really nice for me to get my proxmox VMs migrated to the new location with minimal downtime. Can...
Hi all,
I am running proxmox v3.0. The majority of my VMs are linux based but I do have two windows server vm's and one of them is an exchange server. All VMs are LVM based and I'm backing up to a single local mounted hard disk. Can anyone let me know what the recommended backup mode for...
Some further information on this. It appears that if you have the user as part of a Group that has PVEVMUser permissions the console does not work. However if you specify the permissions directly to the user then console does work. Is it me or is this a bug?
I'm not sure if this is related, but I have noticed what may be a bug (or possibly a misconfiguration on my end). If I have created a PAM authenticated user and give them the PVEVMUser role the user can access the console no problem. If I create an Active Directory authenticated user and give...
