    A good controller is one you are familiar with, and you know that it is working in case of errors ;-) yes. If you loose data on the disk you got a bad one.

    You can try an ubuntu live cd - they have quite good hardware support. Or you use the proxmox install cd (and aborting installation).

    I guess the simplest solution is to use a second IP address to connect directly to your exchange. Or configure your clients to use a special port to send via your exchange server (and redirecting that port at the firewall).
