How to stop syncjob flooting syslog

Is there any chance that this https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/enhancement-suggestion-log-levels.130080/ is addressed with this "bigger scope"?

    Enhancement suggestion: Log levels

I'd like to suggest adding log levels to PBS because the default is completely spamming my journal with what seems to be rather useless information? I got only 3 clients hitting PBS which led to 21574 lines of "successfully added chunk" while the whole journal for today is just 25877 entries. I...

    Question about Backup Proxmox Hosts

Great, that makes sense. /var/lib/pve-cluster/config.db is the file in question, right? Given that my db is small, I will add /etc/pve so it's easier to get to individual files. Thank you for your prompt response!

    Question about Backup Proxmox Hosts

Sorry for bringing this one back from the death. But I am currently preparing for my upgrade to PVE 8.0 and one requirement as stated in https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Upgrade_from_7_to_8 is to backup all files in /etc/pve. Now I just realized that my host backup has skipped /etc/pve ever since I...

Setting up backup location -> Error with @ in file path

I am making my first steps with PVE on a btrfs filesystem. When trying to set up a backup location it appears that @ in a file path is not accepted. I get the following error: illegal path for directory storage: /media/raid/@data2/backup (500) While not a requirement, @ is often used to signify...

Installing on top of Debian with Systemd-boot and BTRFS

I came to the conclusion that I am not yet ready to migrate over to PVE. I think need to wait for virtiofsd support. My showstopper is 4TB of Nextcloud data. Without virtiofsd support the only way I think I can make this work, is by creating a 4TB VM or add a 4TB raw disk to the VM. And then...

Installing on top of Debian with Systemd-boot and BTRFS

Ah, that's it. /boot is VFAT all the way down to /boot/EFI. I can't really remember why though. This server used to be on GRUB, later converted to Sytemd-Boot and, aside from daily :) kernel updates, I haven't touched this part of the system for the last 4 years or so.

Installing on top of Debian with Systemd-boot and BTRFS

Yup, I know, but wasn't sure if PVE maybe does something unusual here :) The log file is still around and I am happy to share. You can find those errors at the very end of the log. ln: failed to create hard link '/boot/initrd.img-6.1.15-1-pve.dpkg-bak' => '/boot/initrd.img-6.1.15-1-pve'...

Installing on top of Debian with Systemd-boot and BTRFS

So far so good. Migration worked, dual boot is working and PVE is up and running. There were some error messages during kernel install and setting up of proxmox-boot-tool related to not being able to create a link, which makes sense given that my ESP is vfat. Next step is to figure out how to...

Installing on top of Debian with Systemd-boot and BTRFS

I see, this is very helpful! From your output I can see that most of what the tool is doing is already there, except these two: Created EFI boot entry "Linux Boot Manager". Adding '/dev/nvme0n1p2' to list of synced ESPs.. I keep copies of the ESP so I can happily play around with things, as...

Installing on top of Debian with Systemd-boot and BTRFS

Excellent! Thanks for confirming Fabian. Sounds like I am good to upgrade like proposed above?

Installing on top of Debian with Systemd-boot and BTRFS

I am migrating my server from Arch to Debian/PVE. Given that there are quite a few Docker services to migrate, I will dualboot until I successfully moved all services. What makes matters a little non standard is that I use systemd-boot and btrfs, which is why I thought I'd double check here...

PVE is spaming my SMB backup server log

Thanks Max, I get the idea of regular pings to make sure the target is still available, but every 10 seconds sounds a little too narrow to me. Anyway, if this is by design that's ok, at least I know that it's not my set up. Using grep to filter out the connections is a way, but I don't think...

PVE is spaming my SMB backup server log

Ever since I set up a SMB server as backup location I can see that the PVE server is connecting every 10 seconds generating 2 log entries each which makes the log on the Samba backup server quite unreadable. It should be sufficient to try before a backup takes place I would assume, is there any...

Migrating server with 30 Docker images to PVE

All right so it's going to be a dedicated VM. Thanks for helping along.

Migrating server with 30 Docker images to PVE

Thanks a lot Max, all good points. The logical grouping is already happening due to using docker compose, and yes, there's a reverse proxy (nginx) in play, but that one may move to OPNsense as part of this realignment. I got the management side (backups/updates/etc.) of the docker services and...

Migrating server with 30 Docker images to PVE

Good input, thanks! From an isolation point of view I think LXC would surely not be worse than today, because right now there is no isolation at all given that all 30 images are running on the same physical server.

Migrating server with 30 Docker images to PVE

I got a server which is currently running ~30 docker images. Services like Nextcloud, Akkoma, Grafana, Keycloak, etc. with their associated databases with 11TB BTRFS raid storage. Now, this server has got plenty of resources left so I am wondering if I should migrate the current setup to PVE for...

Revert redirection of tls certificate path

Thanks Stoiko. Got it working! I am a little uncertain if I need the CA/Intermediate certificates to be added or not. Right now, all that's in the pem is private key and certificate. Given that things are working I guess mail servers aren't checking the chain?
