[SOLVED] Restoring from old proxmox server
Did you get your new hardware working? If it's just a single node, the easiest way is to back up all VM's, install the OS on your new SSD, then restore each VM from your backup.- rjkbj

VM vs LXC container
Depends on the OP's situation. More and more ISP's are going to CGNAT with really limits the ability to easily host a VPN into the home network. I hate it. Tailscale is probably the easiest way to do it safely. Otherwise, I would completely agree, wireguard or OpenVPN is the way to go.- rjkbj

Email notifications missing b default?
You're not wrong. As mature as Proxmox is, there really is no reason there cant be a function to enter email server credentials in the UI for notifications. Most open source big boys have this basic feature (pfSense, OPNsense, TrueNAS, OpenMediaVault; even cheap IPMI firmware has it built...- rjkbj
