I'm having issues with win10 though: every time I add the Sandy Bridge "HD Graphics" driver, it crashes. But maybe this machine does not have enough physical memory. A quick boot of an Ubuntu 20.04 ISO worked flawlessly :)

I see, the kernel is configured, as most new kernels do, as cat /boot/config-lts | grep CONFIG_STRICT_DEVMEM CONFIG_STRICT_DEVMEM=y That prevents access to /dev/mem .....seems I have to recompile it :(
