I can confirm that after adding the pci=realloc=off to the default grub file all of my disks attached to the sas2008 are recognised and i can boot to the newest kernel.
I've had to mitigate few previous issues there as well as I'm using x99 platform and I'm booting from BTRFS Raid1. At the...
I'm running on PVE 8 with 6.1.10-1-pve kernel for a week now with no issues. I've tested few live distros with different kernels and I can say that all was fine on those with 6.1 or 6.3. The 6.2 kernel didn't see any disks connected to lsi 9211-8i.
Mine boots in both cases with slight change to the fstab in 6.2 as I have to comment out mounting the disks connected to the sas controllers. I'll try to boot live distro with kernel 6.2 or newer on that server and see if I'll the same problem as with pve kernel.
cat /boot/config-6.1.10-1-pve | grep -i "mpt"
returns nothing

I can see that in previous kernel they are using mpt2sas and in 6 mpt3sas is used. But i don't know how to implement the needed module or recompile the kernel. I'm trying to researched that but it will take some time.

Hello All.
I've upgraded from 7 to 8 successfully except one problem. If i use kernel 6.2.16-3-pve it will not detect my SAS2008 hba cards, using 5.15.108-1 is fine.
Can anyone can tell why is that and if there is any way to add drivers to this cards and use newest kernel?
Since the last update of kvm few days ago I didn't have cpu error on windows machines, but still have to have Async IO set to threads or native on vm's installed on samba share
I have 2698 v3 and after latest updates few days ago i have two errors.
1st is "status: io-error" when vm is installed on passed through sata controller (SAMBA). This can resolved with changing the Async IO to threads.
2nd is KVM: entry failed, hardware error 0x80000021 (haven't found work...
Thank you for fixing the issue. PVE is booting up nicely with all vm's starting. All the passthroughs of HBAs, Disks, controllers and USBs are going smoothly now too.
t.lamprecht i think I've the solution for the Proxmox host hanging with last 2 kernel versions.
Since few months I've had Turbo Unlock bios on my Rampage V x99 Motherboard for E5-2698 v3. Everything worked fine until the second to last kernel. Then yesterday I've upgraded the Proxmox to the...
I've had kernel panic every day for the past week or so.
