Hi,
Thank you, after my last post I searched and found out about the 'Other' OS type, I used that and it worked!! I have some other freebsd machines running. I will need to go through all of them.
Thanks again for your time!
Hi dcsapak,

Hi All,
I am in the process of migrating our servers to 7.3. I have VM that is based on FreeBSD running an software application that requires an external USB disk key to load. Using 7.2, I have no issues with attaching the USB device in Hardware, but now on the upgraded (7.3) PVE, same...
we have more than 100 VMs running on Proxmox, this is the first time we've encountered such an issue. But this is alarming because we have not kept separate backups of these VMs other than the Proxmox backup system. I dont understand why the backups are failing to restore properly.
Hi @CodeNinja ,
I ran into the same issue however only one VM is giving me this problem, I am trying to recover it with TestDisk as per your article in https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/683756/vm-not-a-bootable-disk-after-upgrade-from-promox-6-x-to-7-x, but I've had no luck so far...
I have backups running on PBS, however restoring them was of no use either. We're running over 150 VMs in the proxmox cloud, and using PBS for backups, this has become a real concern now as we do not have any other backups running. I wonder what proxmox is doing with regards to this, the least...
I am experiencing the same issue with one of my VMs. Tried TestDisk, but no luck with it. Going to try out gpart.
@Daniel S. did you manage to recover your VM?
I see this bug https://bugzilla.proxmox.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2874, but not fix just yet.
hi @dani.hill,
I'm having the same issue, but I can't get TestDisk to repair the partition. I was following this article https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/683756/vm-not-a-bootable-disk-after-upgrade-from-promox-6-x-to-7-x but its not showing me Recommended Repair option.
Try the following:
Go to Datacenter-->Permissions-->Realms-->Add-LDAP Server

Enter the details of your freeipa server and port
Realm:your domain
Base Domain Name: cn=users,cn=accounts,dc=xxxxxx,dc=xx
User Attribute Name: uid
require TFA: none
Sync Options:

hey Ozdjh,
Thanks for your reply. this is the output of the sysctl:

I saw a couple posts here mentioning...
Has proxmox provided a solution for this issue? I recently upgraded to v7.0-9 and none of my FW rules are working, even after a "pve-firewall restart".
I have checked and rechecked, the FW is enabled in all places. It was all working before the upgrade.
So I did install freeipa-client on the PVE host without any issues. However it did not solve my GUI authentication problem. After some more testing I was able to get the LDAP authentication working via freeipa. Now I need to see if I can implement authorization as well.
hey danielb, thanks for your reply, however I already have a FreeIPA server for central authentication.
I already tried connecting to it using the LDAP realm in proxmox, but was unable to make it work. The option of installing the freeipa-client on the host server and authenticating using PAM...
