Any reviews with ARM64 Ampere Altra Q80-30 from Hetzner ?

Hi, As always with Hetzner, the hardware sounds great (80 Cores, 256 GB ECC, 2x 3,84 TB NVME) at fair price. Did someone succeed to setup Promox with those ARM server ? And how ? If not, what do you use instead : Docker Swarm, K8s, ... ? Thank you !

Proxmox ulimit hell : how to really increase open files ?

Hi, You're welcome to the Proxmox ulimit hell ;) It might be fine like that, but I advise you to double check at the application level (running inside the container), that the ulimit have indeed really increased (both soft and hard). root@nginx:~# ps -aux | grep nginx root 445 0.0 0.0...

    Proxmox : 100% memory usage

Hi Dominic, I was not aware of this "in progress" article about Windows 10 at all. But, I work with pretty good hardware (NVME, DDR4, ..) so I don't notice any performance drawbacks by stucking with simple Proxmox configuration without any particular additions. Anyway, my thread was not about...

    Proxmox : 100% memory usage

Hi Dunuin, Thanks for the information Yes I currently run a Windows 10 VM, and have seen from the GUI (with Advanced option) that Proxmox turn on by default ballooning. However I don't know the driver or the version of it. So I don't know if it is really related, but anyways, for production...

    Proxmox : 100% memory usage

As a workaround, I finally end up to fully reboot the system. Not very production-friendly, but consumption of RAM is then back to normal. I took some additionnal actions :

    Proxmox : 100% memory usage

I have stopped every single containers and VMS, and the system consumes 20GB memory without doing anything. wow, how this is ever possible ?

    Proxmox : 100% memory usage

Hi dunuin 29GB of 31GB seems really to be used (not cached). And it does not match the true 30% memory usage reported by unix "ps" if I check and sum the processes one by one. $ free -h It definitely sounds like about a memory leak somewhere.. but I don't know if the bug is on the Debian...

    Proxmox : 100% memory usage

    Unfortunatetly, no check_mk on that server. When I sort processes by memory (either with HTOP or command line), I have exactly this : ps -eo pmem,pcpu,vsize,pid,cmd | sort -k 1 -nr As you can see, 22.6% + 7.4% + 0.4% + 0.4% + 0.2% + 0.1% + 0.1% + n * 0.0% is about 30% memory usage only. So...

    Hi there, Proxmox UI shows memory usage of 98.07%, and htop shows indeed usage of about 95% memory. I have 32 GB total memory, and the following VMs : vm1 : 6GB used of 8GB vm2 : 1GB used of 2GB vm3 : 2GB used of 4GB and Containers : ct1 : 1GB used of 2GB ct2 : 0.5GB used of 2GB ct3 : 2GB...

Proxmox ulimit hell : how to really increase open files ?

As a side note, I continue my research, and found that prlimit -p 1 (inside a given container) is the only reliable way to print the current "open files" hard limit set. So after applying instructions in my previous post, ensure to run such command to verify. Indeed, as explained before, when...

How to get better performance with pfsense vm

same problem here after setup pfsense, speeds have gone down from 950 Mbits/sec to 380 better to use the official PVE firewall (from the GUI), instead of counter-productive pfsense it is known that full VM (like pfsense require) hurts performance comparing to lightweight LXC containers

Proxmox ulimit hell : how to really increase open files ?

I have already read posts related to ulimit on this forum, but don't understand anything, so please do NOT post me as a reply, either links to the forum, either links to proxmox mostly oudated wiki on this subject.
