clamav-freshclam not configured to start on boot

I have a fresh install of Proxmox Mail Gateway that's a few weeks old now. And the service/daemon "clamav-freshclam" is NOT set to start automatically. This seems like an undesirable state of things, so I'm going to configure it to auto start. But does anyone know why it is like this?

Mark found message as spam via webGUI?

So when I find a message in the logs that showed it was accepted/sent to the recipient, but it was actually spam, how can (in the webGUI) I mark said message as actually spam for PMG to learn from it? I'm not yet finding a way to do that (via webGUI).

Cannot grant Shell/CLI permissions with @pbs, LDAP or other non pam accounts

Hi Folks, I've recently tried in Proxmox Backup Server to create a new account for a new admin with full admin permissions, but there's some existing shortcomings that are noteworthy that I want the general public to be aware of. (I'm currently using v2.4-3 and these issues appear to exist even...

VM Backup sometimes causes huge CPU/RAM usage

I don't yet know a pattern for this, but in the last few weeks (I think) sometimes one or a few of my VMs will have problems when being backed up. I'm pretty sure the backups are completing just fine. I don't have Proxmox Backup Server present in this particular environment, so I'm doing full...

    Tags, multi-add/remove

Anyone know of a way to add/remove multiple VMIDs from a tag in one batch go? I'm only really seeing the capabilities to add/remove a tag one VMID at a time. :(

Limit Proxmox VE update versions (testing purposes), best way?

Hey so I'm building out some PoC stuff in my lab and I want to prevent my nodes from updating to v8.3.x as the testing I'm doing involves specific Ceph version aspects. I'm not entirely sure the "recommended" way to do this as searching did not turn up reliable info on the matter. Upgrading to...

Memory usage accuracy has never been accurate and I still cannot find why after many years

I'm rocking PVE v8.2.7 in my cluster, and I've upgraded it in-place since v2.3, and in all this time (over a decade?) I have almost never found the "Memory usage" metric at the webGUI scope of VMs to be accurate. I namely run Linux VMs, but even for Windows, FreeBSD, whatever, it's _never_...

Question for PVE Staff/Devs - Enabling cephadm, what are the known (with evidence) problems?

Hey Folks, Hoping to get some response from the Proxmox Staff/Devs on this. Namely looking for evidence of known problems in a particular scenario. I'm currently building out a PoC for 3x PVE cluster, whereby it also provisions a Ceph cluster, and I extend that Ceph Cluster to provide NFS HA...

Node elevated CLI using Proxmox VE Authentication Server, can't see how

I'm trying to figure out how to use accounts managed by the Proxmox VE Authentication Server in such a way that I can get CLI access (elevated/sudo/whatever) to the nodes in the cluster. Whether it's all nodes, limited notes, or whatever. I can't find anyone talking about this so far, and the...

Live Migrate VMs that use one or more SDNs -> Workable?

I know this is probably an open-ended question, but I'm trying to do upgrade and other planning for a client who has a lot of SDNs going on within their PVE Cluster. There's a few servers in the same rack, connected to I think the same switch (switching equipment is not handled by me), and so...

    zram - why bother?

On PVE Nodes with plenty of RAM (not even close to running out), why even bother with zram? I've inherited an environment with zram present on some of the PVE Nodes in the cluster, and it seems completely redundant. RAM used to... provide RAM when you're out of RAM? What? So far all the...

pvescheduler doesn't retry to start after timeout from PVE Node power loss

We just did some validation on some new PVE Nodes (and related switching) for how they handle total power loss. Everything seemed to come up just fine, except on both of the nodes pvescheduler tries to start up, and times out (after 2 minutes?) then never tries to start back up again. I...

CephFS mount breaks with network connectivity interruption, does not fix when network resumes

Tried to GoogleFu and didn't seem to find anyone else having this problem. Relevant PVE cluster is like 11 nodes, 3x of which run a Ceph cluster serving RBD and FS. All nodes in the cluster use the RBD storage and FS storage. VMdisks are allowed for RBD but not FS, FS is primarily ISOs in this...

New nodes joined to existing cluster, 8.2 updates making SSH key trusts not auto fixed and manual steps needed

So I have two new PVE Nodes that were recently provisioned with PVE v8.2, but were later updated to latest as of today (v8.2.4?). Anyways, I'm now having the silly SSH Key management junk that's been going around with the PVE V8.1/v8.2 changes. The other cluster nodes are on older versions of...

SSH Key problems for new PVE Node joining existing cluster that had its hostname renamed before joining

So I have a PVE server that I've been working on that I just joined to an existing PVE Cluster. Another person did the initial install of the PVE OS on the system, and I followed the Proxmox VE Documentation for renaming said node ( https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Renaming_a_PVE_node ) to the...

Best way to convert OS storage from single disk -> RAID1?

I'm still collecting info, but for one of the environments I am responsible for there are a lot of Proxmox VE Nodes with the OS installed on a single disk. I want to help convert the OS storage on each node to a logical RAID1 configuration. I don't yet know which nodes are using LVM for the OS...

Redundant Ring Protocol/equivalent for _some_ PVE Nodes in a cluster and not others

Alright so this is more asking ahead for future me problems... I've been recently digging into options for certain forms of fail-over and bonding, most specifically methods that span switches. I found documentation (old and new) mentioning that each PVE Node in a cluster can have additional...

Test LACP, 1x TrueNAS + 2x Proxmox VE nodes = LACP y u no brrrtt?

Putting aside the silliness of the title, I do not really see why the LACP bonding in the scenario I'm about to describe does _not_ result in >1gig combined throughput. In this scenario my Proxmox VE cluster is 2x physical nodes. Each node having 2x1gig LACP bond (layer2+3) and the ports on the...

Any way to list systems using specific SDNs?

At times I need to hunt down which systems are on certain SDNs within Proxmox VE, whether it's a VM or LXC. And I'm not seeing a way to list all the "things" that are currently configured to use a specific SDN. Can anyone point me to a method to do this? Or is this something that should be a...

Upload VM disk files to CephFS/RBD? (webGUI)

I'm not entirely seeing how to upload VM Disk images (qcow2/raw/whatever) to a CephFS/RBD storage aspect in a Proxmox VE cluster. Even from a manual/CLI regard I'm not exactly seeing my options here. Can anyone advise? I have a qcow2 VM disk image file I need to get into this space, and I have...
