noob question 4gb instead of 8

Dead stick or not correctly installed stick would be my guesses. As above, how much does the BIOS say you've got in there?

    Cosmetic Wish list / improvements

Those are so much easier to spot the difference than the existing ones. I'm adding my support for something like this to happen too. Perhaps not red and green though (that's the most common type of colour blindness isn't it?)... A big red "X" on the ones not running maybe? You can DIY an...

    Bug with CDRoms?

OK, first up is a little bug with the Proxmox web GUI... When editing a CDROM to change it from using the physical CD drive to "none", the OK button gets greyed out until an ISO storage location is chosen. I think it also happens when changing from none to physical too. This seems to only...

Proxmox Android client - UPDATE: Version BETA released

Re: Proxmox Android client - UPGRADE: Version ALPHA released They should do... Never looked, but given the number of RDP clients, I'd be very surprised if no one has ported an open source VNC client. Edit: Just did a quick search - found http://code.google.com/p/android-vnc-viewer/ Might be...

    2.1 vz container iptables failure

I've recently upgraded to 2.1 from 1.9 by simply reinstalling clean and importing backups. Everything is working fine, except for one container that uses iptables rules to mangle some packets... This container starts OK, but the iptables rules never get applied because of this: trudy:~#...

[Feature Request] Wishlist Collection for PVE 2

OK, here's my requests. First one is something that really bugs me, but the rest are just low grade feature requests. Ability to save password in browser (as OP requested). Or a "remember me" tickbox. Perhaps this should be a server-side option to prevent password saving in larger...

Proxmox Android client - UPDATE: Version BETA released

Re: Proxmox Android client - Work In Progress Looks like something that could grow into a very useful app... I noticed it only shows my KVM machines though, not the VZ containers... Is it meant to show VZ or is it only KVM at this point?

Upgrade 1.9 to 2.x with minimal down time?

Thanks Tom. I'm doing one via command line now... I think I'll try the GUI method for the rest though.

Upgrade 1.9 to 2.x with minimal down time?

OK, I'm most of the way there... But I've got a dumb question... How do I restore the backups from 1.9 on 2.1? The new PVE has a restore function in the GUI, right? Am I able to use that? If so, where do I go to make it happen? Told you it was a dumb question :p Edit: I have restored VMs in...

Upgrade 1.9 to 2.x with minimal down time?

I have a standalone box that needs to be upgraded from 1.9 to 2.x. I kind of want some advice to reduce the chances of long down times... One VM in particular can't be down for long because it runs the phones. But some others are huge (one in particular has around 400GB) and will take hours...

MS Office 2003 problems on Proxmox 2.0

Out of interest, has anyone tried switching the VGA device type? I don't see it mentioned, and it sounds stupid if you're using RDP, but it might be worth a try.

Proxmox VE 2.0 final release !!!

Good to see it's finally final :p Now I just have to find some time where I can take the server down for an hour or 2 and not get too many complaints.

    Proxmox VE 2.0 rc1 released!

I know the official and safe answer to this, but is RC1 close enough to finished that anyone here would use it for a low performance production server? Is it roughly on par with 1.9 now anyway?

Unable to send shutdown signal to w2008r2 guest (2.0 rc1)

Correct - Windows Server 2008 (and 2003?) don't respond to power button presses by default. What compounds the problem with VMs though is that Windows Server does the same thing as Windows clients when idle at the logon screen... They switch the "monitor" to power saving mode. When the...

30K$ Budget to expand our setup

I'd be calling companies that do that sort of stuff - Dell for example will probably assign a rep if you mention your budget is that high. Depending on where you're located and which companies you talk to, some may even be able to offer a demo unit to trial for a week or 2.

Physical CD drive - swapping discs needs reboot?

OK, I've now had a play with my home server (Dell R515) and it goes even worse at this... The tray gets locked once the VM is started, so I can't even try to eject the disk. Attempting to eject from Win2K8 simply gives an error that the drive is in use (which it wasn't). Is this normal...

Physical CD drive - swapping discs needs reboot?

Yeah. Tried that today and it didn't work - had to shut down the VM and start it again.

Physical CD drive - swapping discs needs reboot?

I noticed this issue first a few weeks ago when we installed Windows 2008 R2 on a VM, then tried to install some other software off CDs. We got the listing of the Windows CD when we swapped the CDs.

Physical CD drive - swapping discs needs reboot?

Is there some reason I need to shut down a guest that is using the physical cd drive if i want to change discs? Is this a limitation of KVM or Proxmox? Or is it something odd about Windows Server 2008?

[Network] Both venet and veth in same CT

Aside from the web interface not showing it, there shouldn't be any issues. I had one of each running on a client's server and noticed no problems, aside from the problems we were asked to fix.
