zoneminder in a container - Can't open memory map file /dev/shm/zm.mmap.2

I guess my post was not clear. I ran in to the same issues regarding /run on wheezy as ubuntu 11.11 . permissions were not set right on /dev/shm , and it is probably a bug to be reported to the zoneminder packagers.

multicast - is there a test to check ?

Thank you , that was easy to do. I think that info should go to wiki, If you want I can put it there, as multicast is needed for clusters. From my understanding, making sure multicast works before adding a node to a cluster should be done.

HA does not work as expected... is it feature complete?

Udo - AFAIK drbd would be more reliable then qdisk as there is not a single point of failure. ( I have not used qdisk , but read docs at redhat ). drbd has for us been very reliable , although it had for me a steep learning curve. However the drbd docs have evolved and are much easier...

    VNC issues

I use Squeeze and Ubuntu LTS , and on neither does remmina work. It seems the remmina version shipped on those releases does not have TLS support. Tigervnc does. If you find others put info to that wiki page.

    i/o problem

I also doubt that having a usb disk attached is the cause of the issue. The still undetermined cause of the issue could be something which has already been fixed in Debian testing [ wheezy ].
