Am einfachsten ist bei den langsamen Dingern ein Backup zu machen und dann Restore auf vernünftige SSDs. QLC SSDs und ZFS ist das tödlichste was du tun kannst. Da schreibt ein USB Stick schneller. Ein Backup, also rein read sollte vernünftig funktionieren.

Wie siehst du diese NVMe? Die sind anscheinend etwas langsamer aber haben eine TBW bis zu 2.000, bestehen aus TLC Speichermodule.. Soll ich besser diese nehmen? Insgesamt muss ich "nur" 50€ mehr ausgeben für beide NVMe..

Genau die Crucial P3 hat kein MLC oder TLC Speicher und der QLC Speicher ist sehr langsam. Ich habe noch ein Am4 System mit Ryzen 5 2600, da ist auch noch eine Crucial P3 PCIe 3 x4 mit 500 Gigabyte drin, das macht keinen Spaß und das Ding ist einfach nur grotten langsam. Aber als boot Laufwerk...

Ich gehe davon aus, die Fehler kommen ganz einfach daher, dass es QLC SSDs sind. QLC und ZFS ist eine tödliche Kombination und da die SSDs dazu neigen extreme Latenzen zu erzeugen unter Last, kommen die Fehler vermutlich daher.

Wenn du QLC SSDs benutzt, erklärt das auch die 5% I/O Delay im Idle. gerade Veeam kann ganz gut I/o erzeugen was bei so einer QLC SSD tödlich sein kann. Du kannst di QLC ja benutzen mit LVM-Pool aber auch da darf man keine Rakete erwarten.

QLC wears out quickly and can become terribly slow with Proxmox and ZFS (see other threads in this forum). I'm happy for you that you did not have any problem before. Maybe it's a kernel incompatibility with your hardware, if it ran fine before? Maybe install the latest kernel version 6.8.12-2...

Thank you, the SSD I am going to use for the VMs Samsung 990 PRO has TLC (Samsung V-NAND 3-bit TLC), with the default Proxmox installation with only 1 Node, are cluster services disabled, therefore less logs tot he SSDs?

...VE itself runs fine on an old HDD because it does not read much, however it does write a lot (logs, graphs, etc.). A SATA SSD will be more than fast enough, although i would not use one with QLC flash memory myself. Ext4 of XFS does not make a difference and depends on your personal preference.

QLC drives are really the worst for ZFS. Use it in your Windows PC but not in a server. There are plenty of threads here in this forum. Just search for QLC...
