    OpenvSwitch new OVSIntPort without reboot?

Hi guys, I need to add a few new VLAN's to my infrastructure, one of which will be for backups that each of my 16 proxmox hosts will need to talk on. Therefore I need to add a new OVSIntPort to each host. I want to know if it is OK to make the new port in the GUI and then run the following...

    question about the HA cluster

Ok, that is a linux Redhat cluster. Proxmox is for virtualisation. I don't understand what you want to do now. There is plenty of docs to get you started with proxmox on the wiki. I would reccomend installing proxmox on a single server and getting a feel for it, making some VM's etc... Then...

    question about the HA cluster

Do you have any experience with virtualisation clustering of any kind? VMWare, HyperV etc? Or even single host virtualisation for that matter? I don't mean to sound harsh but if the answer the above question is 'no' then you should do some research about virtualisation & virtualisation HA in...

    question about the HA cluster

What is your reason for clustering? If you are doing it for scalability or replication then Proxmox clustering won't help you... It will simply protect the virtual machines you have Postgres running in from physical hardware failure. You can however run a number of virtual machines on proxmox...

    question about the HA cluster

This would depend on what you are clustering. Proxmox clustering provides centralised management of multiple physical hosts on which to run virtual machines as well as high availability which allows for automatic restarting of whole VM's on a different physical node should the current one fail...

How do I firewall a VM?

Thanks, but what does each of the log levels give me in terms of information. If I want to see DROP packets for example, what level do I need?

How do I firewall a VM?

I have just realised that I didn't enable the firewall in Hardware > NIC > Firewall. I checked the box and it now works as expected. I do have a question though. When creating rules in the firewall tab of an individual VM, I assume this is a seperate chain just for this VM and is not host or...

How do I firewall a VM?

Hi guys, First time using the proxmox firewall and I need some guidance. I have created a security group with an allow rule for SSH and the web interface at the datacenter level, inserted it and have enabled the firewall. Now I want to protect one of my kvm VM's with the PVE firewall. I have...

    Cheap Cloud iSCSI/NFS Service Provider?

I'd like to see a backup option to dump straight to an S3 bucket. But I think we need to have incremental backups in proxmox first otherwise a full backup everytime will start consuming mega amounts of space.

    fence_drac5 missing "module_name" parameter?

Can no-one comment here? It seems the ability to use dell CMC's to fence is no longer an option and it hasn't been announced. I would consider that a major problem!

    fence_drac5 missing "module_name" parameter?

Hi guys, I am trying to configure fencing on a 16 node cluster consisting of Dell Blade servers and was following your article here https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Fencing#Enable_fencing_on_all_nodes It says I can use the CMC to fence via the iDRAC's by specifying module_name="" for each fence...

    iSCSI MPIO + HP P2000 G3

Excellent thanks! If this all works out, I think its probably a good idea to write a guide with screenshots because the iSCSI and MPIO information is lacking but its a massively important feature and the easier it is the better. Especially for those of us coming from a VMWare background like...

    iSCSI MPIO + HP P2000 G3

Another question, So, in order: 1. Cluster 16 proxmox nodes 2. Add the iSCSI initiators in GUI 3. Create multipath config on first node Now I need some advice: 4. Do I now copy the multipath config to the other nodes? 5. The last step in the thread you linked to was to run pvcreate and...

    iSCSI MPIO + HP P2000 G3

Thanks! So this means my thoughts were correct. My first step would be to configure an iSCSI initiator from the GUI for EVERY path to the SAN. Mine has 4, so I would configure iSCSI in the GUI 4 times, each with the different path to the SAN? Tom

    iSCSI MPIO + HP P2000 G3

What? The iSCSI MPIO guide itself says that before configuring the MPIO, you must add the iSCSI in via the GUI. https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/ISCSI_Multipath

Thanks but that doesn't answer what I am asking.

    iSCSI MPIO + HP P2000 G3

Still no answer? I have installed proxmox on 12/16 blades so far and soon will be onto the storage so could do with an answer!

Connection between clients and proxmox Virtual machines

Agreed. This all depends what sort of 'thin client' environment you are running. Are they totally thin as in no desktop OS onboard and just boot an embedded OS that connects to your VDI servers, or are they running full desktop OS's and just open a connection to your VM's such as VNC or RDP etc...
