I assume your server has Smart Array B320i/512MB FBWC controller inside (onboard). If this controller is not supported by Proxmox, I would spend some bucks for a good controller. Software Raid might work for test or development environments but not productive use.

Have you a battery pack installed for the P410 Raid controller? Do you have the latest firmware for the P410 Raid controller? It seems that the write cache is disabled, which may result in poor performance.

3ware controllers are fully supported by the Kernel. Never had an issue.

Can you post a picture of the boot error? On some HP server a boot error shows up. But according various discussions in different forums this error can be ignored.

Have you tried to set the I/O scheduler of the KVM guest to NOOP ? Just in case you run a kvm.
