An unlimited journal log then completely runs the opposite way than recommending smaller rotation...

I now set up a new PMG with Debian 11. I recognized, that/var/log/journal is increasing from day to day. It looks like no rotation or limit at all. Is this typical? Is there any solution? About 11 days running I have on a low volume system now 1.1G

I'm a bit confused. I use the unattended-updates, which should remove old kernels, but it doesn't. I tried pvekclean and it removed two kernels without reboot. I did a uname -a and it showed me the .15 kernel, after your message I rebooted and it still showed me the .15 kernel? .15 in full...

You need to do for /var/log/syslog similar to messages below. You can use rotate value to increase and/or weekly attribute to different attribute like monthly, yearly, ... However, it depend on your storage capability on one hand and your memory as well as your cpu performance for the tracking...
