Tuxis launches free Proxmox Backup Server BETA service

Last week we could not supply new free accounts on our Proxmox Backup Service. That is solved with this beast :) This one has 36 slots that we fill with 16TB disks and that would supply 576TB storage in 4HE. All for Proxmox Backup Server. So if you want to use it, test it or simply have your...

Windows VMs stuck on boot after Proxmox Upgrade to 7.0

Interesting, I've not seen any issues at all.. How do you guys run backups? Might it be that communication with Qemu on fsfreeze-commands and such cause the 'controllers' of the VM to get confused?

Windows VMs stuck on boot after Proxmox Upgrade to 7.0

I've read some posts about Windows issues and sata-disks, might that be the problem here as well?

No, as long as you have a VAT/CoC-number you're fine.

Windows VMs stuck on boot after Proxmox Upgrade to 7.0

Hmm. Is there any difference in the $vmid.conf files?

Tuxis launches free Proxmox Backup Server BETA service

Sorry about that. The reason is that we have to calculate the percentage VAT that is used in the country of the buyer and than we have to submit those taxes in that specific country. We are simply not equipped to do that since we do B2B. But if you post here in what country you are in, there...

Windows VMs stuck on boot after Proxmox Upgrade to 7.0

@RasmusToft Hmm. Is there any difference in the output of rbd info $imagename of the older and newer images?

I changed the certificate yesterday because it was about to expire, this changes the fingerprint. You can remove the fingerprint from /etc/pve/storage.cfg as it is only required for self-signed certificates.

    Running novnc from somewhere else

    I got it to work in a test-env using this nginx snippet: location ~ /api2/json/nodes/.+/qemu/.+/vncwebsocket.* { proxy_pass https://demo.tuxis.cloud$request_uri; proxy_http_version 1.1; proxy_set_header Upgrade $http_upgrade...

    PBS scaling out storage

When using ZFS, the verify-process IMHO is very overrated. It protects you from bitrot, which ZFS already has protection for. Our largest PBS is currently about 90TB, filled with about 73TB of data. Verify as we speak reads about 2GB per second, and we try to limit the amount of verifies. One...

    PBS scaling out storage

You add external cabinets where you can add disks.. Indeed, growing a ZFS pool does not rebalance data, but that does not cause any issues so far. There is some data that is being deleted and some new data being added. In the long run, this balances enough.

    Running novnc from somewhere else

Hi, We're working on a portal for our customers so they can order VM's (and other stuff) without having to login to our Proxmox GUI. All works well thanks to the API, but now we want to be able to show the user the console. The API documentation tells us that we should do a POST on vncproxy...

    PBS scaling out storage

No. We create a filesystem per datastore, locally on the local ZFS pool. We set a quota per user, each user has its own main filesystem and a per-datastore sub-filesystem.

How to remove backups from multiple vms/cts at once?

No, not AFAIK. Maybe open a feature-request at https://bugzilla.proxmox.com/ ? I think I'd like to have this as well.

    PBS scaling out storage

We use ZFS pools and more disks to scale out, which works like a charm.

    PBS fault tolerance

There are some posts about re-adding a datastore, which is basically what you want to do. https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/solved-re-add-datastore-to-pbs.79329/ https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/remove-removable-datastore.80672/

Tuxis launches free Proxmox Backup Server BETA service

If the stats in the task-summaries are correct, we've handled about 43500 backups in the last 30 days. We haven't had any complaints about crashed VM's in the last month. So yes, the issue exists (we've even hit it at one time with a big cluster of 12 nodes, all simultaniously starting backups)...

Tuxis launches free Proxmox Backup Server BETA service

Slow response, sorry. No, we do not have any bandwidth limitation. We currently have two PBS'es running, at peaks they handle 1.6 and 2.6 Gbit/s respectively. As far as we're concerned, the limit should be between 1 and 10Gbit/s. Feel free to DM me your source IP so we can see if anything can...

It should take you to our global PBS page. When you scroll down further there is a button "Create an account". Select the version "Free 150GB" on the order page.

Dropping it here: The free 150 Gbyte account can be ordered again. If you want to test it or just don't need much storage you can use it. No other limitations than the 150 Gbyte.
