Configure Proxmox to allow for 2 minutes of shared storage downtime?

not sure if you have capacity or ability to test ZFS over iSCSI. If you are not running LACP you may be able to. It will give you native ZFS features on shared storage. COW, Snapshots, Replication etc just food for thought :) good luck with the upgrade. ""Cheers G

[TUTORIAL] Guide: Setup ZFS-over-iSCSI with PVE 5x and FreeNAS 11+

from my understanding each vm will have its own zvol so basically it’s a volume to it self. yes for snapshots and rollback for an individual vm. if my understanding is correct the benefit to this is granular Management of the vm storage, replication can be set at the TrueNas/FreeNas layer...

Configure Proxmox to allow for 2 minutes of shared storage downtime?

How are you connecting to the TrueNas storage array? iscsi, nfs, ZFS over iSCSI? iscsi normally can have the time outs adjusted to be more or less, default time out on VMware is about 20 sec. normally with dual controller modules active/ passive or active/active the failover between...

Setup an additional host only network

sorry let me clarify. internal comms to local local VM's there will be no loss of performance as its just an internal bridge nothing leaves the host or even the Nic so you shoudl get native IO speed on the host which will be greater than the Nic bandwidth. it's just a bridge device...

Setup an additional host only network

network speed will be almost native. Darkproduct is talking about Read/ Write speed to his ZFS pool if im reading his post correctly. Network is about bandwidth so if you are running 1 GB Nic then you should get about 115-125 MB/s = 1000 Gbps bandwodth approx across the network. The bridge...

Setup an additional host only network

Yes it’s possible. are you thinking 1 Internet facing + 1 internal facing? if you have the same bridged network on the host you can just create 2. If on the vm and map them to the appropriate brodge network. it’s documented in the admin guide how to create a bridge...

    Opinions | ZFS On Proxmox

Thank you @guletz appreciate you taking the time to reply. I think i should be clearer with my question RE Cache drive. I'm looking at the 375 GB Optane as a caching drive for SLOG/ LARC, from what i've been reading the SLOG can be approximately 1/4 the capacity of RAM even less. The question...

    Opinions | ZFS On Proxmox

Awesome information thanks @LnxBil really appreciate you taking the time to go into more detail. Are you currently using Dedupe? We are torn between having a few stand alone ZFS hosts and deploying a Ceph cluster, ZFS looks like it will be easier for our team to manage then Ceph, obviously...
