The chance of bringing it back is practically zero. Ceph is the future and the devs know it.

There is a setting in your GUI that allows you to limit the number of backups. Just uncheck it.

To be on the safe side, even though this has always worked well for me, you can set up a test Win2008 VM and practice migrating it to the Proxmox environment.

It is quite cpu and disk intensive during its scheduled scans. We do those at night/off-time. But, this is going to be the case with any solution.
