If you made a backup with that bad qemu version, it is corrupted no matter what you do. Is that the one that you are trying to restore to the new beta you set up?
I assume the auto-recover will involve selecting the guest replicated image on the recovery node and selecting recover similar to your backup solution. Looking forward to that also.
Note the name of your first zpool.
zpool list
Create a zpool on the other node(s) using that same name.
zpool create nameOfPool /dev/sd*
Mount it and use the Datacenter to add a ZFS.
