After reading and searching info about a firewall to install on my proxmox, I found almost 4 options.
firewall
shorewall
fridu
fail2ban
Now, waiting for a new proxmox firewall (I hope in the next version), I wonder which one is the best performant? what is the easiest to configure? which one is...
Ok for the disk space.
Now, about the main question, the device reverse, do you think is not a problem having the backup device on dev/sda1 and the system on dev/sdb, despite the booting priority is different?
About yoy, can I leave the thing as they are?
Look like I have the same problem today, look at my post:
http://forum.proxmox.com/threads/4411-to-boot-the-system-reverses-dev-sda-and-dev-sdb
but I didn't do any any upgrade
this is already configured as first the raid (adaptec) and as second the SATA hdd
Do you means like this :
-------------------------------------------------------------------
# <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
/dev/pve/root / ext3 errors=remount-ro 0 1
/dev/pve/data...
Everything worked fine, with 2 HD500GB in RAID1 (Adaptec) mounted on dev/sda (LVM) and 1T HD SATA mounted on dev/sdb1 /BACKUP.
This morning on reboot, I found the /BACKUP dir empty, after some research I found that the LVM (2 500GB HD in RAID1) was mounted on dev/sdb and the ext3 1T HD was...
I wonder if is it possible to change the proxmox admin gui port, so I could use only 1 IP address in my single VM system.
SCENARIO:
1 node and 1 VM
1 pubblic IP address
Server is hosted in a server farm
No LAN access
I would use only 1 Pubblic IP for:
https://mypublicIP:8000 to access the...
looks like the installation went fine, but I can not find the configuration file and the dir /usr/share/denyhosts/ as mentioned in the howtoforge post.
any tips?
Has anyone ever installed denyhost on proxmox?
http://www.howtoforge.com/preventing_ssh_dictionary_attacks_with_denyhosts
If so, has some advice to share?
Is available a step to step howto installation guide?
thanks in advance
luc
Thanks for the tips.
The thing I like most in Proxmox is its simplicity and speed of installation via DVD, so I would say, reading the above post, the best solution is to change the motherboard.
I also believe that changing the motherboard is the most economical solution considering the cost of...
My intel mother board has 1 PCIe 16x, 2 PCIe1x, 3 PCI slot and no video controller on board.
The raid controller is an adaptec 2045 with a PCIe 4x, if I plug it into the 16x slot I have no slot for the video card.
I used an old PCI video card, I installed and configured the raid controller, but...
So to summarize, this is the list of folders that should keep:
/root/.forward (admin email)
/var/lib/vz/template (templates)
/etc/network/interfaces (network interface)
/etc/pve/storage.cfg (storage-config)
/etc/vzdump.conf (backup setting)
/etc/fstab (Not restored but contains useful information)
Looks like the step 4 is not a good idea!
the previous recovery has been successful thanks to the non-execution of step 4
When I ran back to point 4, on the first reboot the server crashed and the reasons seem obvious.
I suppose that only some /etc subdir can be retrieved
NOW I'LL TRY TO RECOVER.
CASE: The server has exploded, I saved only the backup disk! (don't worry, is only a simulation)
On the backup disk I have the last snapshot backup and the /root and /etc dir backup.

1. Install PROXMOX on a new server (ok in 5 min)
2. Connect the 1TB HD to the...
It's gone.
I did the following steps:
1. Create directory: mkdir /BACKUP
1. Create FS #: mkfs.ext3 /dev/sdb1
2. Mount the drive to Directory: mount -t ext3 /dev/sdb1 /BACKUP
4. In proxmox storage web interface I chose "add directory", pointed it to /BACKUP and chose "VZDump BACKUP"
that's...
thank for your help.
could you give me more info about the steps for mounting the 1Tb HD?
I tryed with no success the following step:
1) create directory: mkdir /BACKUP (ok)
2) mount HD: mount /dev/sdb1 /BACKUP (ko) error unrecognised lvm2pv filesystem.
May be I have a wrong filesystem, so I...
