    Proxmox VE 7.1 released!

Hi, I have just upgraded my test cluster but now disk access is incredibly slow and "migrate" "ha stop" commands have no effect. Restarted servers and ceph without improvement

Full mesh network using Batman protocol

Hi, can you please point me to some documentation to use sdn in proxmox? I think I am missing the starting point.

Full mesh network using Batman protocol

Hi all, the setup is just like in the link @vesalius has indicated. My /etc/network/interfaces (omitted boring part) is: auto eno1 iface eno1 inet manual mtu 9000 auto eno2 iface eno2 inet manual mtu 9000 auto eno3 iface eno3 inet manual mtu 9000 auto eno4 iface eno4 inet...

Full mesh network using Batman protocol

Yes infact actually I have configured it manually. Yes I will check which commands I have done last year Did not know about it, two questions: - is it production stable? - is it complex to setup? Batman is more than 10 years old so it is stable, battle tested and very easy to setup.

Full mesh network using Batman protocol

Hi, Batman is an established protocol for mesh networks: batman The advantages are: - level 2 easy configuration (no need to use level 3) - the source node talks directly to destination node ( no bandwidth wasted) - very fast convergence time if a link is down

Full mesh network using Batman protocol

Hello, I read full mesh article but I have tested for 1 year an improved solution that uses batman routing protocol. The batman routing protocol is a level 2 mesh protocol for wireless networks but it works perfectly with ethernet (I am testing with 40g network). So I can do a three servers...

A missing NFS server can destroy HA

I can send you output of that commands but it happens in many installations with different versions of proxmox. If you want to reproduce it you can configure an external nfs unit with a backup job, then power down the external unit and wait.

Ceph is not configured to be really HA

I strongly disagree. You do not get the point. With three servers and a replica 3 it should be obvious that a failure of an entire server means that I have two servers remaining with two copies of data that is more than enough to maintain HA status. And it is the purpose of HA: it allow one...

    Backups cause problems in VMs

I have just discovered an important thing. Yesterday I have powered off some VMs (so Proxmox Backup Server loses modified data and does a full backup instead). Today after several full backups again I have the slowness and micro pause problem. I have tried the migration trick and it does nothing...

Ceph is not configured to be really HA

Sorry but the reply cannot be "buy more disks" because: 1) I have already followed "best practices" (replica 3, fast networks, disks full only at 60%), you cannot change requirements each time I find a problem 2) with replica 3 the cost of data is already 3x you cannot say increase it to 6x or...

VM's become unresponsive when backups run or a disk is moved

Is bwlimit really implemented? I have read in another post it is not working.

Ceph is not configured to be really HA

Hello, I have a three node proxmox/ceph cluster. Each node has two nvme as ceph osd. Replica is 3. Network is 40gb. OSD are 60% full. Now one osd breaks. Considering I have followed all guidelines (replica 3, min 2, fast network and so on) I expected that I have no problems. But ceph on the...

    Backups cause problems in VMs

Hello, I have a proxmox 6.4 cluster with ceph 14.2.20. If I do long backups (for example full backups) the day after people have micro pauses using windows remote desktop. If I migrate the windows vm to another server the VM start working perfectly. With fast backups (for example incremental...

A missing NFS server can destroy HA

Hello, I have a three node Proxmox/ceph cluster with an external nfs NAS. I write backups on that nas. Unfortunately the nas has disconnected for an hardware problem. Linux disconnected nfs (why??) and started to write on mount point in /mnt. So it has filled the root partition blocking the ceph...

    Serious regression in ceph recovery

Hello, I have a Proxmox 6.4 cluster wiith ceph 14.2.20 with three servers, each one with: 192gb ram, 48 core, 4 ssd, 10gb ethernet, light load (few vms) One of the servers has filled root partition due to a failing nfs mount (another thread), so immediately ceph mon stopped working. After I...

Stretched Cluster (dual DC) with Ceph - disaster recovery

So basically you are in a situation like two local servers connected together and Proxmox experts will tell you that this not work because you need also a quorum.

Stretched Cluster (dual DC) with Ceph - disaster recovery

Number of nodes should be odd. And you are not forced to put a monitor on each node, better to put 3 or 5 so the side with less monitors will lose when datacenters are disconnected.

Still problems with backups (VM hanging and so on)

Hello, I am trying latest proxmox 6.4-6 on several clusters. Situation is improved but there are still problems. I start a snapshot type backup of a VM. The VM starts to become not usable: it hangs several times during backup. If backup is too long (big hdd) or if backup server is too fast ( I...

    Sync jobs from different PBS

I rewrite this: I have one remote backup server and many clusters each with its local backup server. Can I use only one remote for all?

    Sync jobs from different PBS

So if I have 20 customers with each one a windows machine to backup I must create 20 datastore and I lose deduplication advantages (windows machines are very similar)
