You can bind mount the same folder into many containers. The only issue is if multiple containers try to update the same file at the same time. But it is the same issue for any shared resource.
If you need to share the folder with other clients like VMs or network PCs. Than you can try the...
What do you use to connect?
Microtic is a router? So I assume a web ui.
Try open youbrowser and navigate to the ip. Http or https
Server 2003 is an issue. Try using Windows 7 or xp rdp client if possible.
I had a good experience with mobaXterm on both windows and linux.
Well first thing first.
You need to know what is running on the VMs .And what you need to do with them.
Second you need to know their host names and up.
Now since it proxmox go to the WebUI of the server and check some info. You may be able to figure out the host name and may be even ip there...
You can try clonning the ct first and then use thr clone to convert to template.
I thing you have option of clone or copy if you right-click the vm name.
Ok let me take a wack at some of this.
First of all , you processor being AMD should not stop you from running full VMs.
I have used AMD cpus for the last 20+ years and tried out multiple virtualization tech. With no issues.
In fact I have run a 15yo dual Opteron proxmox server for last 10 years...
Ok. Let's start fresh.
First of all I do apologize if my post come across as stuffy and condecending.
That was not intentionally.
However I fail to see how I missed 50% of your posts idea and where I disagree with the rest 50%.
Also I absolutely do not say anything bad or good about your...
I am sorry to say it, but I failed to see how this is related to Proxmox.
You followed a 4+ year old post and say it does not work. Well since than I bet the base os,that is Debian, have changed atleast twice. Not counting multitude of updates. Ofcourse it may not work.
Also IBM 36xx servers...
If you only using freenas for file sharing you maybe able to approximate the same setup using proxmox and zfs pools which you than bindmount into a file server container. Not sure what the equivalent of bind mount is for full VMs though.
With bind mount you connect the zfs pool to container and...
It can be done but a bit differently.
First If all do not expose your host to internet. You either need to put a firewall between the host and inet or load a firewall on the host or run it as a vm on the host.
That said...
1. Choose what nic doong what. Which you have.
2. Crate a bridge for each...
Have fun.
You can always invest 2-3 hundred down the road on an hp t730 client. Load it up with proxmox and move the vm there.
It would be just as efficient as edgerouter but more powerful. I think...
Your config is wrong.
Move the actual ip and other settings to the bridge.
Should be
iface eno1 inet manual
Auto vmbr0## inet <whatever>
And all the settings here including bridge specific entries.
It works but you may need 3 mics for easier setup.
I am running pfsence vm now on proxmox...
You have to enable ssh rights on container. Centos comes with ssh disabled by default. Actually today most distros do.
Also you need to do special config if you want to ssh with root.
Not sure what you mean.
Do you connect your proxmox host directly to provider?
Is it hosted setup?
If it is hosted setup than you need to setup a dhcp server on host or with in vm.
Create a second bridge vmbr1 and route all your trafic via second bridge.
That is your dhcp vm will have 2 nics...
In most modern OS RAM usage is not indicative of system being overloaded.
It used to be the case. But not anymore.
Nowadays an OS will use whatever ram is available to increase performance and will free up memory as needed for other apps and proceses on demand.
Well it depends on What FS you use , but mostly the setup is the same.
In the some info here https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Storage
The default location on proxmox is
/var/lib/vz/template/iso
This is a local store.
So, first create a folder on you desired target drive. I.e. mydisk/myISO
Than in...
Iso storage is folder base. Just create a folder on your data disk and add it to proxmox storage as appropriate storage type.
There is a help wiki to show you how to do that. You may also find here how to remove default location for this type of data store , which is currently on you os drive.
There is no need to passthrough.
It is much easier and simpler to just create a bridge on the port you want to use amd attach vm to that bridge. I bave been running my pfsence like this for almost a year now.
Why complicate things with passthrough.
This will not work. You need 2 bridges.
Vmbr0 with 7 ports and vmbr1 with 1 port.
Plug the port on vmbr1 to your WAN(cable modem)
Than assigne vmbr1 to your pfsence WAN port.
And vmbr0 to tour pfsence lan port. Your pfsense should be your router and gateway. On proxmox host you need statuc ip...
