This CPU does not support KVM virtual machines (no Intel VT / AMD-V support)

Sorry for the long delay getting back to this thread. Just wanted to follow up in case anyone else runs into this problem. I'm the OP and once I upgraded the BIOS on my Supermicro server, I was then able to enable virtualization and got the vmx flag. So in my case, it was just a matter of...

This CPU does not support KVM virtual machines (no Intel VT / AMD-V support)

Yeah, that's what I'd normally do too. But the mobo doesn't have a floppy drive connector. I'll look into creating a DOS bootable CD.

This CPU does not support KVM virtual machines (no Intel VT / AMD-V support)

OK, I'll try that. Any advice on how to update the bios without a floppy? The system has no floppy or cdrom, but I have an external USB cdrom drive. And I have a usb flash drive. Which one would be easier to use? Thanks, Tauren

This CPU does not support KVM virtual machines (no Intel VT / AMD-V support)

I still can't get KVM working. The supermicro site says to not update the bios unless there is a specific reason to do so, so I asked Supermicro tech support about this. Below is the message I got back from them. Any idea what "check your OS installation and patch update file" mean? I see no...

This CPU does not support KVM virtual machines (no Intel VT / AMD-V support)

Yes, each time I've unplugged the system for 5 to 10 seconds. I just shut it down again and unplugged it for 30 seconds to make sure. But after booting, I still get that message. And right now both BIOS settings related to VT support are enabled. Tauren

Put ISO onto USB flash drive?

Well, first of all, I didn't have an external cd drive and had to go buy one just to try out proxmox. Secondly, my rack is full of 1U systems and there isn't really a place to set the external drive down. So I have to hold it there or rig something up with a long usb cable... I know, these...

This CPU does not support KVM virtual machines (no Intel VT / AMD-V support)

I've got Proxmox VE installed on a bare metal system. The main web interface reports this: CPU(s) 8 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5405 @ 2.00GHz But when I go to create a virtual machine, it says this: Attention: This CPU does not support KVM virtual machines (no Intel VT / AMD-V support). If it...

Put ISO onto USB flash drive?

I got booting/installing proxmox from usb flash partially working. I set up my system bios to boot from usb flash. I formatted a usb flash drive with mkfs.ext2. I extracted all the files from the proxmox ISO and copied them to the root of the flash drive. I then ran: cd /media/disk (root...
