That sounds like they missed a ton of stuff, so it’s not really a step by step guide at all. I installed Debian without GNOME so it goes straight to the command line, is that what you mean by graphical install? Or do you mean the option in the menu at the start of the installer?
Does that...
Is there anything missing from the wiki guide in terms of steps to take? I followed it but did not end up with a static IP address. There were two 127.0.0.1 addresses in the hosts file and I left one of them as it shows… should I remove both? Also when setting up Debian there are both root and...
Those are some pretty big omissions. I wonder why they are left out when we do this type of install
For something that has been in the wiki for a good few versions it does seem a bit… incomplete.
Hello Dunuin,
What do these do? Are they still missing?
Does anyone else know of anything missing from installing over Debian as opposed to installing from the Proxmox VE image?
Hello ph0x,
Thanks for the tips. It is in the same subnet but seems my static IP setting didn’t work. I was able to get the correct IP from ip a and then ping and connect successfully via https.
Is anything lost by installing Proxmox this way? I was just reading this thread/post that says the...
Hello all, this may be a silly question or one that has been answered before but I can’t find a definitive answer so here goes:
Can I install and fully use Proxmox Backup Server in a VM within Proxmox? Is this not recommended? Why? What will I lose? Are the Backup Server features all included...
I created a VM and installed Debian with LVM LUKS partition and booted into it with no problems. I then installed Proxmox over this as per wiki and booted into it with no problems BUT I cannot connect to the web interface. Proxmox is working and I can access the console. What am I doing wrong?
Still testing, but LUKS for now. I created an encrypted Debian VM and installed Proxmox over it successfully as per wiki. I can start the VM but cannot connect to the web interface and cant ping it either. Wondering what I am doing wrong...
Is the hard part unlocking it or what?
When selecting the hard drive that the VMs will be stored on, the encrypted one is nowhere to be seen! I don’t have any issue unlocking via cli as I don’t expect the server to be turned off and on all the time, I just need to know the process. :)
I have been looking for the best way to encrypt the Proxmox boot drive (one that is not using a hardware RAID setup). From what I have seen the most common way of doing this is over a Debian install with LUKS encryption. I have also found this method. Is there any advantage using one method over...
When setting up the volume where VMs will be stored (separate physical drive) there is no option to encrypt it. In the beginning where we initialise a hard disk for virtual machines. Is this at all possible/necessary?
How would I encrypt the volume used to store VMs? If I remember correctly it would only let me select a volume that was not already formatted?
Also, if that volume is encrypted then is there no need to encrypt each individual VM?
