I had my partitions all setup correctly and I used 100% it’s just when going into the GUI after unlocking it was already used and can’t select it for lvm. It does show up it’s just not usable so I will try that convert command and see what happens.
This was the bit I needed for now. The lvconvert command I think… I done the rest correct but I can’t use it.
I will worry about the automatic unlocking once I have the basics setup the way I want them :) thanks!
Coming back to this, what format does the drive storing VMs need to be? When I unlock the drive via Shell and then check it via GUI (Disks > LVM), it shows usage 100% and Free 0 B :oops:

That is a very pro setup like we use at work. I don’t have a managed switch at this time so maybe something to look at more later. I am just experimenting with a lot of things right now, with SMB shares being the only actual use that doesn’t need tinkering/learning :)
